CIRCA - 2007 🇽🇰 - a centered golden silhouette of the territory's outline under an arch of 6 white 5-pointed stars on a dark blue field

HISTORY: Selected through a public competition and adopted in 2008, (on the date of Kosovo's
declaration of independence from Serbia) the flag intentionally avoids ethnic-specific symbols,
such as the red & black colors or dual-headed ☬ eagle of Albania.
Despite intended neutrality, however, the flag is subject to dispute. Serbia, for one, rejects
Kosovo's sovereignty, and the majority Albanian population often favors the Albanian flag🔍.
VEXILLOLOGY:* Designed to promote a vision of multi-ethnic cohesion amid the region's historical divisions;
The 6 ★ STARS represent Kosovo's major ethnic communities: Albanians, Serbs, Bosniaks, Turks, Roma, & Gorani, underscoring an aspirational commitment to coexistence, & they are
WHITE, traditionally symbolic of ☮︎ peace, to promote inclusivity and multi-ethnic harmony in the aftermath of the 1999 Kosovo War, which displaced populations and exacerbated ethnic tensions.
The MAP Silhouette is an assertion of Kosovo's territorial claims in...
GOLD the color of sovereignty & divine sanction (from heraldic tradition as the metal of kingship & heavenly light)
The BLUE 🔍 Field is also meant to evokes themes of ☮︎ peace, stability & harmony in part by mirroring the European Union flag🔍, (+ signaling Kosovo's aspirations for EU membership & continental integration)
