In Ethiopian, were coffee originated, coffee ceremonies are significant cultural practice.
The Middle East has some of the oldest coffee traditions in the world like Turkish Coffee, a strong thick shot sized portion unfiltered where grounds (& sugar) are added to cold water and simply boiled all together. In the Balkans, Bosanska Kahva - national coffee of Bosnia is similarly prepared only with a lighter roast and the water boiled separately.
In Europe Wiener Kaffee or Viennese Coffee in Austria is topped in milk foam or whipped cream, Greece does a frothy iced coffee Frappe, & Sweden brews their Kaffeost with cheese 🧀 for a rich, creamy texture. Italians have Espresso, Cappuccino & the unusual Caffè d’orzo* (Barley 🌾 Coffee) plus Regional Specialty Coffees
In Asia, China & Taiwan also enjoy a thick cheese froth floats atop their cup of joe and Vietnam's egg 🥚 coffee, cà phê trứng, is made by whipping egg yolks with sugar & sweetened condensed milk, layered over a strong brew.
Down Under in Australia, some add broccoli powder 🥦 to espressos. Many countries add alcohol like Irish Coffee with Whiskey 🥃 & topped w/ cream or Carajillo, a Spanish coffee cocktail with liquor, citrus peel 🍋 & cinnamon.
The strangest coffee may be Indonesia's Kopi Luwak - made from beans eaten, partially digested & pooped out by palm civets 🦦, creating a unique flavor profile.
