The ALPS -

- mountain range in central Europe, meaning high, snow-capped mountain; French & Latin Alpes

[perhaps from altus = high (PIE🔍 root alb = hill) or albus (PIE albʰós) = white) or possibly after the

Greek Mythology corn-mother goddess/ boogeyman Alphito, from alphos = white.*] Alt. they were

also called Alpes by the Celts, so it may be of Celtic origin.

The Alps stretch across ~ 750 miles (~1,200 km) and eight countries (from west to east🔍):

Monaco, France, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria + Slovenia.

Many mountains are also "Alps" in a reference to the original, such as: Japanese Alps,  Australian Alps,

Arrochar Alps | Scotland, Balkan Dinaric Alps, Scandinavian Lyngen Alps, Stauning Alps, | Greenland

Julian Alps | Italy & Slovenia, the Transylvanian Alps | Romania, California Trinity Alps | USA,

Southern Alps | New Zealand and even the Montes Alpes, on the Moon🥚.

   * Interestingly making Alp mean virtual the same thing as caucasus🔍
