The ALPS -

- mountain range in central Europe, meaning high, snow-capped mountain; French & Latin Alpes
[perhaps from altus = high (PIEšŸ”Ā root alb = hill) or albus (PIE albʰós) = white) or possibly after the
Greek Mythology corn-mother goddess/ boogeyman Alphito, from alphos = white.*] Alt. they were
also called Alpes by the Celts, so it may be of Celtic origin.

The Alps stretch across ~ 750 miles (~1,200Ā km) and eight countries (from west to eastšŸ”):

Monaco, France, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria + Slovenia.

Many mountains are referred to as "Alps" in a reference to the original range, such as: the JapaneseĀ Alps
the Arrochar Alps | Scotland, the Balkan Dinaric Alps, Scandinavian Lyngen Alps, the AustralianĀ Alps,
the Stauning Alps, | Greenland, the Transylvanian Alps | Romania, the California Trinity Alps | USA,
the Southern Alps | New Zealand and even the Montes Alpes, on the Moon🄚.

Ā Ā Ā * Interestingly making AlpĀ mean virtual the same thing as caucasusšŸ”
